Welcome to Canal Cottages, a two-bedroom private cottage along Seattle’s Lake Washington Ship Canal, providing a unique Seattle experience. We are located in the historic neighborhood of Ballard, conveniently close to shopping, restaurants and movie theaters, as well as places of interest such as the Hiram Chittenden (Ballard) Locks, Discovery Park, and Golden Gardens beach. There is excellent bus service, with a direct route to the University of Washington. Suitable for business travelers or vacationers, the cottage is a welcome alternative to the downtown hotel suite.

Tugboats, tour boats, sailboats, and more parade past your door on their way to and from Seattle’s freshwater lakes and Puget Sound. Blue herons, kingfishers, and seagulls are frequent visitors, with occasional appearances by bald eagles and sea otters. Amtrak and Burlington Northern Santa Fe trains pass nearby as they cross the historic railroad drawbridge.

Want to go fishing? Captain Keith Robbins keeps his boat at the marina just outside your door. Captain Carl Nyman’s boat is just a short scenic walk away.

Open year-round. Two-night minimum on weekends/holidays. Available for extended stays during the off season. Closely supervised children 10 and over are welcome. Sorry, no smoking and no pets.
